The Embassy Theatre
One of the most important events in PODS history was the building of the
Embassy Theatre in 1937. The Theatre,on Broadway was on a site adjacent to The
Hippodrome which was built in 1907.In 1924 Mr Jack Bancroft (later to become our
President) took on the lease of The Hippodrome and in 1930 he subsequently
purchased the building and renamed it The Palace. In 1937 Mr Bancroft built The
Embassy Theatre next door to The Palace which was subsequently demolished.
The Embassy Theatre was a magnificent art deco building in which PODS
produced and performed numerous musicals over the next 40 years.
Sadly it is no longer a theatre but a night-club.
